Helen Marjan
MA Programme Tutor (Part-time)
Master of Arts in Teaching English to Young Learners

Hello!
I'm Helen Marjan and whilst I'm originally from Newcastle (UK), I haves been living and working in Singapore since 1989. With a background and training in teaching modern languages, I currently work as the Joint Managing Director and Director of Studies for a group of language schools for young learners in Singapore, Malaysia and most recently China. My job is very exciting and diverse, and involves working closely with young learners (3-16 year olds) and their teachers.
Having been a student on the MA in TEYL myself, I can say from first hand experience that it is a very enriching, well-supported and stimulating programme which helped me develop my own professional skills and knowledge of TEYL enormously.
My main academic interests include syllabus design, materials development for young learners, teacher training and development, and learner strategy training. Outside the academic field, I enjoy travelling, swimming, shopping, and spending time with my husband Rafi and our three children - Sofie (into fashion and all things trendy), Emma (sport mad) and Daniel (the next David Beckham!).

MA Programme Tutor (Part-time)
Master of Arts in Teaching English to Young Learners
University of York, UK
Hello, I'm Nicole Taylor. I live and work in Catalonia in Spain.
I went into teaching after completing a PGCE in Britain in the late 80s. However, my interest in languages took me abroad to Spain where I became involved in teaching English as a Foreign Language to young learners. After several years teaching young learners and managing teachers, I enrolled as a student on the MA in TEYL in its first year, thirteen years ago now. Since then as well as continuing to be involved in the MA as a supervisor, I have become increasingly involved in teacher and trainer training and materials development for young learners.
In my spare time I enjoy hiking, sailing, cycling and generally anything that takes me out of doors.
