You needn't always fork out lots of money on expensive toys. Young children can have even more fun making their own! Find out for yourself with these wooden spoon puppets!

You will need:

Wooden spoons
Wool, fabric and ribbon scraps
Google eyes
Strong glue
Scissors

Talk with your child about what she wants her puppet to be: a girl, a boy, an animal?

Once she has decided, discuss how you are going to create such a puppet: what materials will you need to use, what will you need to do first etc.

Encourage your child to work through the process of making the puppet, lending support where needed. Let her make as many of the decisions as possible, even if you can anticpiate that the end product may not look as good as if you ahd done it yourself!

Remember- it is the process , not the product, that counts!
