Hi! My name is Meng Fang and I am a Chinese language teacher
at Lorna Whiston Schools. I’ve been working and living in
Singapore for the last seven years and have a son who is five years
old.
Having graduated from Henan Normal University as a teacher, I
went to Beijing Forestry University to pursue a Masters degree.
Following this, I taught in Beijing Shengji Art School as an English
teacher and moved to Singapore when my husband was posted here in
June 1998.
I love being part of the teaching industry and find this type
of work very rewarding. I have taught Chinese to students from many
countries such as Japan, Korea, Brazil, America and Spain, and they
have ranged in age from pre-schoolers up to adults! I understand
that Mandarin can be a tough language for overseas students to learn,
and I am always thinking of new and interesting ways to make the
learning simpler and more meaningful. Consequently I feel very fulfilled
and proud of the progress my students have made.
I feel very happy to have joined Lorna Whiston Schools this year.
I like working here because I feel that every teacher is very professional
and kind to the students. I am very impressed by the quality of
teaching, the professional attitude of the staff and the students’ achievements.
I am currently involved in curriculum research, planning and
development, ready for the launch of our Chinese language programmes
for both Singaporean and overseas students.
