Bachelor of Education (Honours)
Derbyshire College, UK
I studied at Derbyshire College of Higher Education where I gained
a Bachelor of Education (Honours) degree. I returned to my hometown
of Sheffield where I taught for seven years in two different
schools. I then went to Cairo in Egypt, for three years, teaching
the
British National Curriculum to Egyptian children.
Most recently I spent eighteen months in Moscow working at an
International School teaching children from many different nations.
At the school, where I was working, we accepted children with little
or no English. Working closely with our language assistants, the
children worked on an intensive language programme while at the
same time they were integrated into a class. We had some amazing
results. As the children spoke English, their confidence grew and
it was sometimes hard to stop them from talking!
The EAL department at Lorna Whiston is a great place to study
English and I look forward to meeting more students from all
over Asia and teaching them English.
