Diploma in Special Education (Auckland)
"Kia ora! As we say in my country ... it
means, Hello. My name is Alan Addison and I have recently arrived
from Auckland, New Zealand."
I have decided to teach in Singapore
both to immerse myself in your culture and lifestyle and to
enjoy a new teaching experience. I come from a diverse educational
background that includes several years teaching in middle school before
moving to Sydney where I was Director of a large Pre-School. Following
this, I returned with my family to New Zealand to develop and
teach programmes in Behaviour Modification. I moved from this to become
Assistant Principal at a school for the disabled, and completed
post graduate studies in Special Education. A few years later, I accepted
a position at one of New Zealand's largest community education
and enrichment centres funded by the New Zealand Ministry of Education.
Adult education became a passion. From this, I helped create
a new international school specialising in English Language in Central
Auckland and was its Director until I arrived here.
I am finding it very easy to settle
in Singapore and the people are helpful and friendly. Moreover, the
young children I currently work with are very eager to learn. Look
out for me rollerblading on the East Coast walkways!!"
