I am looking for
a long-term study programme to improve my general level of
English. Which course should I take?
General English is the course for you. If you’re looking to improve
your ability to use and understand English over a longer period of
time, or are getting ready for one of our other courses, this is the
best option for you. Each of our General English Programmes is broken
down into five-week courses. Please see below.
ELEMENTARY 1 & 2
Elementary English is for students who have had little or limited
exposure to the English language and who wish to develop a broad spectrum
of basic language and communication skills.
INTERMEDIATE 1 & 2
Intermediate English is for students who already have some knowledge
of English and aims to build upon those basic skills and guide students
to a greater level of fluency, both in their speech and writing. English
grammar and vocabulary, and their effects on speech and meaning, will
be examined in greater depth.
UPPER INTERMEDIATE 1 & 2
The Upper Intermediate Programmes will take students to the point
where they feel quite comfortable with the English language. Upper
Intermediate students will be encouraged to begin research projects
and give more complex presentations on subjects of class and personal
interest.
ADVANCED 1 & 2
The Advanced Programmes will aim to create a high level of fluency
among students, to the point where they will feel confident about undertaking
further study in English, be it in full time schools in Singapore or
elsewhere. This fluency will transfer to all aspects of English: speaking,
listening, reading and writing. Students will use texts from a variety
of sources such as current affairs articles, film clips and newspaper
stories, as a stimulus for discussion.
Our teachers have many years of experience teaching English to
Asian students. We’ll first give you a placement test and put
you in a class that suits your proficiency level and your language
needs. Remember, our classes never have more than 14 students in them,
so you’ll be guaranteed lots of individual attention and practice
opportunities from our expert teachers.
