Age: Early Bird 2 (N2)
Theme: Nursery Rhymes
Description: The students will take a trip down Nursery Rhyme Road where they will participate in speech sound activities, communication games, rhymes, songs and small group performances. They will even get to speak with their favourite Nursery Rhyme characters!

 
Time: 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Age: Elementary (K1 and K2)
Theme: Mr. Men Celebrations
Description: In this programme, students transform themselves to become part of the world of ‘Mr. Men”, where they do all kinds of dramatic presentations and performances to cheer up Mr. Grumpy. All the performances will be inspired by cultural celebrations from around the world.

 
 
Time: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Age: Early Bird 2 (N2)
Theme: Favourite Kids’ Characters
Description: Every day, the students meet a favourite character, including Thomas the Tank Engine, Bob the Builder and Winnie the Pooh. During each adventure, students will interact with the teacher in role as the various characters and use voice and speech skills to complete familiar stories. Your child will have a wonderful time in this class

 
Time: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Age: Intermediate (P1 and P2)
Theme: Geronimo Stilton and the
Story Dramas

Description: The students go on a special drama adventure based on the Geronimo Stilton Book, ‘The Secret of the Sphinx’. To capture the students’ imagination, they are encouraged to be in ‘character’ using voice and speech skills to overcome problems and solve mysteries. The students are strongly encouraged to develop their own ideas and present them creatively through drama.

Time: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Age: Advanced 1 and 2 (P3 - P5)
Theme: Readers’ Theatre
Description: This programme can help students with oral and presentation skills, boosting their confidence for the Oral Exams. It is strongly focused on the skills that kids will need to develop in order to perform well in school, and has been designed to develop children’s confidence as speakers.

 
 
Time: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Age: Elementary (K1 and K2)
Theme: Fairy Tale Adventure
Description: Fairy Tale Land comes alive for these children! Travelling to faraway lands, the children will embark on fun, creative and dramatic adventures as characters in fairy tales to play out simple scenes, developing speech skills such as volume, articulation, pace and expression.
 
 
Time: 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Age: Intermediate (P1 and P2)
Theme: Mighty Machines
Description: Using the cool theme of ‘Mighty Machines’, our students go on an expressive and dramatic journey into the world of machines. Each day we will focus on a different vocal skill with a different oral discussion topic. This course will capture the imagination of children who get bored easily. A fantastic journey to the land of machines!

 
 
Time: 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Age: Advanced 3 and 4 (P4 - P6)
Theme: Debate Skills
Description: To be an effective debater, students need to communicate succinctly. In this course, the students are taught the finer techniques of how to debate. We teach students how to plan, structure and present a debate speech as part of a team. Debate is about winning - there are never any draws in q debate, so we focus on training students how to win a debate.


 

Each of the above programmes lasts for 4 days, with the students coming every day for a two hour lesson. They take place from Tuesday 16th March 2010 to Friday 19th March, 2010.
 
During the final session, students will work together with their teacher to present a simple sharing of work in progress with parents.
 
The cost for students already enrolled at Lorna Whiston is $192.49 for a 4-day programme. For new students, the cost is $219.24.
